New York City

This is a strange little blog post I'm making, but something I just felt like doing.
Have you ever been to New York?
I have. Several times now.
As a European, New York was... dazzling. Skyscrapers all around, while potholes and garbage give the city the grim appearance (and smell) unlike any other city in the world. Yet, somehow, I felt strangely at home in this city. Going from Rudy's Bar in Hell's Kitchen (Seriously, go here. Awesome place.) to my hostel on 891 Amsterdam avenue at 2 am felt as if I'd done it a thousand times before.
It is, without a doubt, a true urban jungle. Never quiet, always lively. This city, to me, is the ultimate dream. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it gross? Yes. Is every waking moment in the Big Apple an experience unlike any other? Absolutely yes.
Perhaps my perspective is twisted, for it is that of a tourist. However, New York (and by extension America) is a city where I feel welcome, and where a competitive guy like me can flourish, or fail. I am still young, and I have many years ahead of me (perhaps give up smoking to extend those years a bit). I will apply myself, and work hard to get to this city once more.
That city, a place I want to call home one day, is incredible.
For now, I must be content with living a 10-minute train ride from Amsterdam.
If you're visiting, look me up.
