He refers to Phil Collins in the film, who you were quoting.

How are they "outdated" exactly? I don't see how they are onerous.

What exactly are you referring to? Facebook? I deleted mine.
People have Facebook groups, tumblr and twitter communities for specialised discussion. Used to be only forums.

Most of them are slow and use PHP based vBulletin or some other variant style pages, I personally have been spoiled by the speed of websites that have endeavoured to remain modern so posting regularly on a forum and waiting hours for a response sometimes feels onerous to me. But those websites are largely generating sufficient revenue and in some cases turning a profit so they can afford to innovate unlike the majority of forums which are funded either purely by the admin or with some help from donors.

I'm usually a 4chan regular, but I'd also cite reddit as a decent example of a super forum that incorporates the usual specialised forums as subreddits which is fast, flexible and integrates well with modern devices such as smart phones and tablets. Forums really only lend themselves best to the desktop, and were once all powerful when social media was barely a thing.

There are a hundred thousand anime forums, each stream site has its own and then there are those unaffiliated ones like AF. With so much fragmentation is it really a wonder that places like this are crumbling under the weight of the giants?

I was banned from all the other forums I frequented, so I'll stay here as long as possible.

    How'd you achieve that?
