    Pathfinder the Forum RPG

    Pathfinder the Forum RPG

    Introduction
The first of tabletop games came many a decade ago, called Dungeons and Dragons. DnD, for its acronym, has been around with many iterations and changes. In its highlight, DnD was at edition 3.5. Those were its glory days, but they soon disappeared with editions 4 and 5. Some did not like that, so a new PRG arose. This one took 3.5 and has since freely added and expanded upon it. We call it Pathfinder... and Pathfinder is truly open to anything your mind can imagine.

Tabletop games are rooted, heavily, in dice rill mechanics. Unlucky for us, there is no easy, or swift, way to do this in a forum. True, dice rolling apps exist that track rolls by users signed into systems. The problem is the pace of a forum; posts are not hourly, and battle in a tabletop is a minute by minute struggle. Our solution here is to strip away the dice and do a fee by feel RP experience. Statistics will still be important, abilities prudent, but their implementation will be open aired and to the thoughts of their wielder. Below, our systems will do their best to assist you in joining a text based RP based in the world(s) of Pathfinder.

    Rules
These rules are in play currently for one major reason: to ensure GM and players focus on their character and plot lines. At most, a payer can be GMing a campaign and be partaking in a campaign. If and when this organization grows larger, we can expand the rules to reflect.

    - Limit one character per player.
    - Limit one campaign per player for GM role.
    - Limit two campaigns per player character to partake in.

    2. Character Creation
What it takes to make a character and make it work

Quick Guide and Questions to Ask (Yourself)
    1) Know the Basics.
    - How do attributes work.
    - How does combat work.
    - What is expected of me as a player?
    - What is expected of me as a Dungeon Master?
    2) Start with the concept of what you want.
    - What race of creature would I like? What races are there beyond what we have? What is acceptable?
    - What type of class do I want? Supporting the fighter? Sneaking around? Casting spells? A mix?
    - What do I want them to do outside of combat and exploring? A blacksmith? A farmer? A politician?
    3) Pick out some feats and abilities to define your character gameplay wise.
    - What's an acceptable feat.
    - What can I do with feats.
    4) Gear up.
    - What type of gear fits my character.
    - What items do I want to strive for.
    - Should I notify my DM about my desires (yes.)
    5) Really knock out the background.
    - What, where, who is my family if I have one.
    - What negative facets make me a person and not a Mary Sue.
    - What makes me unique.
    6) Join a campaign.

The Basics of DnD and Pathfinder
Every character is tailored to six core statistics. These stats determine what a character can do, what they cannot do, and how well their life in the world will be. These determines a fighter's strength, a ranger's agility, a wizard's knowledge, and a monk's piety, among other things.

    Strength
    - Determines lifting and hauling of items.
    - Determines the power and accuracy of a melee attack.
    - Used primarily by heavily armored, melee focused classes.

    Dexterity
    - Determines ability to dodge and avoid.
    - Determines accuracy of ranged and guile based weapons.
    - Used primarily by low armored classes to make up for an inability to wear armor.

    Constitution
    - Determines health and fatigue.
    - Determines resistance to poisons, disease, and ailments.
    - Used by all classes, especially tanks or classes who can't use dexterity, but want to survive long.

    Intelligence
    - Determines skill points.
    - Determines arcane (book based) class spells and knowledge.
    - Determines literal intelligence: scores under 8 will suffer competency and even literacy.

    Wisdom
    - Determines resistance to magic and the divine forces.
    - Determines divine magics and their power.
    - Used by all classes, though primarily by support focused.

    Charisma
    - Determines one's physical presence and favor-ability.
    - Augments, when used, social scenarios and bartering.
    - Determines arcane spell casting from the self.

    The Core: Explained with Tomatoes
Strength: Ability to crush a tomato with your hand.
Dexterity: Ability to dodge a tomato.
Constitution: Ability to resist eating a rotten tomato.
Intelligence: Knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom: Knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.
Charisma: Ability to sell tomato based fruit salads.

    Point buy
This current system, and most systems like this, utilize point buy. You start with a lot of points to spend freely, but you can't spend them completely. The more you invest in a particular statistic, the more it will cost. A balance between jack of all and master of one characters. All characters will minimally have 8 in each statistic, which is the average human.
