Free Roam - Fountain of the Giants

Free Roam - Fountain of the Giants (FoG)
    A.K.A Regis is a Hard 3 on a 10 Scale

Located in the New World, the Fountain of the Giants is a massive mountain that is flat atop its highest point and more like a rocky cylinder than it is a normal geographic shape. From the center of this island comes a underwater current that flows upward, allowing the sea to spread and pour over the mountainous island and look akin to a fountain, the effect granting its title. Underneath, the mountain is held up by four pillars made of coral, with nothing else short of open sea and reefs (and cities.) This coral (nicknamed Kolto) is extremely lively given the sea it is within, making it nigh impossible to destroy but extremely colorful and flavorful for consumption.

To reach this flat plateau, one must either have a vehicle strong enough to ascend high into the atmosphere or go the normal path, for the winds around the island are extraordinarily powerful. Any other attempt short of those two options will lead the traveler to a place they never intended. Even light is fickle prey and transported where it was not supposed to go; this has resulted in the mountain and its cities to constantly be under a shimmering painted glass effect. This phenomenon is known as the Cynic Winds, given how they never seem to help anyone.

Luckily, a well traveled path exists to reach the plateau; the underwater current. The current itself has many branches to enter from, with each all ending at the top of the mountain, flowing over its edge, back into the ocean below. Next to these currents are a mix of cities that are either dug into the reefs, floating in suspended bubbles that can house civilization, floating atop the waters and revolving around the Cynic Winds, or dug into the bottom of the mountain in a cave system.

The primary export from this island is the coral found at the bottom of the mountain named Kolto. Totally not related to another substance, this stuff has wonderful medicinal properties and is great against infection. It is also the main foundation in several medicines and drugs. A second export, even more rare, exists in the seabed. A particular powdery metal that is toxic to consumption, but can help in occult sciences... or so say the occultists.

    Mountain Top Cities
The Cardinal Crosses - A city with four vastly seperated sections connected by train that mark the four cardinal directons: North, South,
    East, West.
    - Stone, marble, and heavy focus on moving water as a aesthetic.
    - Holds the governments of the FoG.
    - Has a marine office located in the North that is currently staffed by a mustached man.
    - Clean, civil, and snobby describes these four points of one expanded city.
    - Loves hydro energy.

Red Floaty District - Eastern in appearance, this 'district' is a red light city that is filled with trade that is both legal and not. The city itself does move as it is on a smooth rocky foundation that floats in the strange mountain current, but it never falls.
    - More prestigious crime groups meet here to discuss politics.
    - Neighboring government and marines do not touch this area out of respect.
    - Trade posts for kolto are common here, as a factories to process the reef coral.
    - A nasty scientist is said to live here. Their personality is... fiery.

More to Come - Yara yara

    Cave and Center Cities
The Stone Hinge - A sculpted floating city that keeps around the FoG due to currents, a common theme. The city is often the first people will find as they arrive.
    - The architecture is akin to stacked stones and looks funny.
    - Rentable sumbermisables to reach the upper moutain can be rented here.
    - Some dudes with green skin sell highly, highly unstable rockets if one wanted to breach the barrier of the Cynic Winds from above its threshold.
---> Survival chance IS under 10%, given some smarmy butt recording it all on a snail phone.

Green Glum Hollows - Green in glow from strange moss and the local's choice in lighting, the Green Glum Hollows is a cave system that works to relax. However, plenty of things occur within the city, as mining and crafting is cherished inside the mountain cave.
    - Filled with miners, smiths, and crafters.
    - Green moss makes for interesting alchemical component.
    - Peaceful enough town, though rarely anyone ever tries to cause trouble.
    - Totally not because the moss can subdue people with exposure.
    - Totally not.

More to Come - Yara yara

    Bubble and Reef Cities
Ragnarok Three - A city of free spirits and science. Currently the only city built on a occultium vein that actually mines it successfully. Often a city that is ignored due to some of the interesting characters that live within it.
    - Bubble cities can withstand undersea earthquakes and are sturdy enough.
    - Totally not named after a biblical event related to a city named after a biblical event.
    - A thriving hub of sciences, arts, and drugs.
    - Refines occultium, though the market is shite.
    - A man with a cold shoulder lives here, protecting the vein from horrors he's seen. Speaks in puns.

Ragnarok Four - A city dump filled with junk, junkers, thieves, crooks, and scavengers. A wonderful place to hide things AND a more wonderful place to store excess goods. A massive hangar for junk.
    - Undercut traders, slimy thieves, and cargo boxes litter this 'city.'
    - If someone is going to die, do it here. They could use the meat.

More to Come - Yara yara

    Notes
    - To add a city; name it, give it a place that is thematic, and propose it in PM or IM.
    - Avoid ruining other's campaigns or quests by randomly joining in. Ask, and you shall most likely be allowed.
    - Kolto has no market value to players. Nor does Occultium.
    - No quest limits, but be sure to have them approved.
    - Two logia exist here.

    Cardinal Cross - North
A strange sight to see a casket wash up upon the marble stone 'beach' of the Cardinal Cross, but that is what day goers would be dealing with.
Some gawked, but most hurried away to tell the police about the offense. A shaking of the coffin and the seal popping would reveal a blast of vapor, followed by the rising of a girl. Pink haired, big sleepy eyed, and drowsy, she would smack her lips fresh from her sleep and look around. Shielding her eyes, Morticia would see the marble world she was in.

    Then, she would barf.

Surviving a dyna stone in a metal box that could dig was not sound. As for the devil fruit she was to have won? A bird stole it. The bird dropped it,
and then a man found it. The man took it a distance, wanting to sell it, until another man stole it. That man was going to eat it, but a bug crawled somewhere it should have, and forced him to drop it. A third man picked it up, placed it atop his bottle of lemon tea, and forgot about it. A fourth man would finally grab it, eating it whole... for he was hungry.

So many more men, but that is not here nor there.

Ragnarok Three - A Certain Someone
Defending shipments of occultium was tiring work that often ended with those valiant warriors at a pub. A city of sins and evil, there were pubs as there were crime dens. Heck, they were often one in the same. This one, Euphoria's Wink, was a bit different. Not that the patrons were unique, or its brews divine. Nothing that nice. No, it was a front for one thing, and it held an old man for the other.

The front was something hush and hush. A few men wearing red shoulder pads and biker helmets would take u much of the bar and it seemed people came and went past them. Money was exchanged, things traded. A new drug on the market, if anyone asked. Made ya happy as a kite in flight, deadened nerves, and even cleared your head so you could focus. Lasted for a good few hours, even. The withdrawal, though, was a killer. Other rumors spread about the drug, but they were too far and between.

What truly made this bar interesting was a man in blue naval wear, a peg leg for his left, a grim and old hand holding a pint of some liquid, and a head of hair black and silver with age and stress. He looked so out of tune with the world around him, this genetlemen. Even his fellow marines from before the Knock at the World's Door would struggle to see who this man was. Yet there he was, sitting at the bar, drinking a pint.

It was Ex-Admiral Koko, the Ice Man himself.

    Towards Ragnarok Three
    Ellie, Juri

Normally the marines wouldn't have bothered sending any of their officers to the Fountain of Giants. It was an island in the New World, but aside from dealing in Kolto, there wasn't much else for the marines to be interested in there. But the Kolto interested one such marine, for she was a doctor. She knew of Kolto, but had never dealt with the substance herself, and so she set out on a field trip to study it. Her first stop was at the marine office in Cardinal Cross North where she checked in with the local officer. From there, she left her coat that was emblazoned with the kanji for Justice there. She didn't want to gather attention to herself.

Juri had hired a local to guide her to the lower cities where she could find a place that held Kolto. The best place that she had heard of would be down in Ragnarok Three, a city of science and free spirits that did as they pleased. It was also known to be a city of crime and sin. It took some time, but Juri had finally made it to the city of science. Occultium was the main resource that was mined and refined, but from what she was informed Kolto was processed here as well. After having made it to the outskirts of the city, the guide refused to go any further and doubled back to the upper cities. This district was dangerous, but that didn't deter Juri.

Without anywhere else to start, Juri made her way into a random den that was named Euphoria's Wink. She entered the place and made her way to the bar. She wore a blindfold, but navigated her way through the den as if she had no problems with sight. She used her senses and mantra to get a feel of the atmosphere and the locals as she walked up to the bartender.

"I don't suppose you have any warm sake, do you?"

Ragnarok Three - A Bit of Joy
A barkeep would tend to the newly entered Juri, but otherwise she went unnoticed. Mostly unnoticed. Some of the men with shoulder guards would grumble, pointing out the 'fish freak' before continuing their discussions. Racism in an undersea city was a strange and outlandish thing. Sounds kept the room comfortable, but they would all dash in a singular moment.

There was an older man at the bar, by the name of Koko, but a new person appeared. Juri would feel him, sense him, but now how he got there. Faint, she could say, was his life force and presence. He was abnormality who seethed a particular quality that mantra warned her was not possitive. Could she see him as mantra might, she'd see a man much like the others, though his smile was unnerving. A laugh escaped him, and that would remind Juri no other sound was in that bar. Even the keep stopped polishing one of his mugs, the silence deafening.

"Oh joy, joy, joy in my hea-"

"Now lad, I am old and I told ya last time no more o' that sea wind."

Koko's interjection would be responded with a short huff of a chuckle. The man was not intending to be interrupted, it seemed, yet he was okay with it. The smile this man wore was frightening to say the least, though Juri might never truly know how red it was. Those full lips would knock any woman down a peg in envy.

"Straight to the busy, Koko. I like that about you. My best, BEST defender. Were you followed?"

    "I can't say I had a ship tai-"

"Liar. Liar, liar, liaaaar. You were tailed, Ex."

    "..."

Juri could feel a knife of diction go through her back. The killing intent was cold like steel, and it ground against her spine... yet she'd be unharmed. Mantra told her everything that was to happen, but nothing came. The man knew who she was and those words were for her. Yet, she tailed no one. Perhaps that wasn't the point.

"- but that's okay. I forgive you. I gotta be joyful. Doc's orders. Speaking of..."

Deep from the man's pockets came a bag. In it, something like marbles. Blue, but Juri would never know.

"Doc's prescription. Keep up the work chap. Make sure that dandy **** doesn't get any of Rando's ore."

"Aye. Our deal is as solid as the ice I make."

"Good. Goooood. That fiery **** won't know what hit him. Kehahahe...! How's that leg doing?"

"The good one or the cursed one?"

    "The fun one."

The man would lay a foot down and kick Koko's peg leg lightly. The act made Koko wince in discomfort, but he seemed unable to refuse the unwanted interaction.

"She's doing alright. Never would imagine my sailing would get it cursed."

"Excellent. Hey, keep it weird. I got more deliveries so, be joyful. So full... of Joy. Kehe."

The length of discussion was done, yet the silence remained. The man was moving out, seemingly leaving through the front entrance. How he moved like a wisp to behind Juri was left to be on her mind, but he was there. Fancy footwork, a presence that is more muted than the dead, and yet he took the time to say one thing behind her back before heading out. It was all in passing, but it was impossible to think it wasn't for her.

    "Hey."

The strange charlatan was gone, hos presence and himself fading fast once he made it through the Euphoria's doors. Sound returned to the world as people continued what they were doing. Koko would stare at his mud, blinking and blank. A bag stayed in front of him, the bag that guy dropped off for him. A moment more, and Koko would grab the bag with a gruff reluctance, open it, and take out a sphere. Quick, he'd pop the one sphere into his mouth, swallowing it away with a swig of his ale.

Ragnarok Three - Juri, Koko, Regis

Sat inside a den of sin and thievery, a watering hole few with dignity would visit, was Regis. He liked to frequent the underbelly of society from time to time, and Ragnarok Three was no exception. He found it a welcome diversion from the continuously shifting politics of high society and the social elite. Throughout the decades he'd learned that no matter what, very little would change. His travels had taken him to the Fountain of Giants before, about a century ago, but things had changed since then. The discovery of Kolto had been interesting to him for a long time now, and he intended to make full use of the facilities available to him here, as well as any research he might acquire. He sat in the back of the bar, aptly named Euphoria's Wink. He sipped a cheap wine, whincing slightly after each taste. It was quite.. disgusting. New figures would enter and leave the bar throughout the night.

Regis took another sip, shifting his eyes towards a rather strange customer. A man wearing spiked pauldrons and helmet, with a coy smile on his face, loudly spoke to another patron at the bar. This one was older and more grizzled. He had only one leg, but enough muscle mass for three. The leg was an attention point for the spiked pauldron man. He seemed to be making a delivery of sort. Regis was interested in this medicine the man was delivering, but rather than talking to the supplier, he would await and see where the client would go. He left his seat and slowly made his way to the bar, ordering a jug of wine, something a little more expensive this time.

"I have a feeling tonight is going to be... extraordinary."

Red Floaty District - Maneki-neko Casino

The Red Floaty District, a den of scum and villainy existing as one of the mountain top cities. The marines have no authority here, the various crime syndicates run the show, using the district politics and control their criminal enterprises. Though a food chain clearly exists. The biggest of the criminal organization are the ones who run the show, while the smaller groups must make do with just the scraps. Though lately even the big fish have been on edge. A recent development in the Red Floaty District has shaken up the status quo. The Inquisition arrived.

The food chain of the district had been disrupted. It wasn't long before a new link on the chain took the top. The Inquisition claimed the Maneki-neko Casino as their own, using it as a staging ground on the island. The basement of the casino would be gutted by the Inquisition and converted into a laboratory. This place was now then den of one man. At a glance he seemed unimposing. He carried himself with a slouch and walked about, drowsy and uninterested about the rest of the world. Yet his reputation proceeds him. He is the mad scientist of the Inquisition. The High Inquisitor of Sloth. He is Prometheus.

Dammit, we were so close. It would've been ours if that old fool hadn't shown up.

The Inquisitor was in rare form today, rather than hiding away in his lab he was out in the open, sitting at the bar in the casino. It was quite clear he was upset about something. He'd place his drink back down on the bar, before also laying his head face down on the bar as he began to rub his temples. Those in the casino gambling would then see the oddest of sights. Prometheus would fall asleep into a nap right there. It would seem that he tuckered himself out, but would any be brave enough to approach?

Ragnarok Three - A Boy Who Uses His Own Supply

Once again, a young Teen by the name of Miles Morales would find himself in a shady area, around shady people, who do shady things. The boy was a proprietor of sorts, but what he was selling was more of a scientific subtance, but meh, in a place where there's large drug trade everything is scientific. Regardless the boy would make his way into a bar, a bar filled with unique individuals. There was a peg leg weirdo, a fishwoman, and a variety of other strange people. Miles, a young boy, would stick out like a sore thumb. A bar wasn't a place for a lad like him, but again, he'd always find himself stuck in one. He sold silk, a very powerful silk, used for sutures, or clothing, or anything you need silk for. The boy made his way into a corner, hoping he wouldn't attract too much attention. He looked around at the many faces, many looking back at him. Awkward to say the least. Shortly after he took a seat, a server would make their way toward him.

"Aren't you a little young to be here??" The server asked.

"Aren't I a little young for you to be approaching me alone... pssh pedo..."

Rolling their eyes, the server quickly shrugged off the pedo accusation and asked the boy if he'd order anything, to which the boy responded with water. A young boy, in a bar, that exists underwater, just ordered water... It wasn't a far-fetched idea to say this boy was definitely strange. The boy slowly took off his backpack and sat it next to him, he kept it close, something very valuable was within. For some they'd think it was money or valuables, but in reality, it was a costume. A costume for what?? Only time would tell.

Red Floaty District - Maneki-neko Casino

After trying to raid a Marine Base in Ambervale and being forced to abandon her attempt, Irra took shelter on the island. While she had nothing to do with it, she got caught in a Buster Call during her rest there. The whole of Ambervale was wiped off of the face of the planet, and all that was left in its wake was a hole in the Sea, which quickly closed as the waves flooded inward. A Marine by the name of Chandra proven dead, and the Yonkou, Bryanna Fremont, presumed dead in the Buster Call as well. However, the tenacious Bloodhound still lived, and none ever knew she was caught up in the incident. With durability and vitality most inhuman, as well as armor plenty, and with the help of Caesar and Serio who were with her at the time, the Bloodhound walked. Serio was gone already, preferring to keep his ties with Irra a secret, only having resorted to calling for her help when he found out about the Buster Call. As for Irra and Caesar, they now took shelter on the Fountain of the Giants. Marine presence was scarce, and so it was a good place for her to hide and lay low. Serio had healed a good part of Irra's injuries, but one thing was irreversible. Her left arm was gone. Completely.

She lay in a shack in the Red Floay District, armorless. Caesar knocked on the door and entered, bringing some food. He set it aside on a stool and looked at Irra, before speaking.

''You look like a battered dog. How long are you gonna lay around?''

Caesar asked, Irra staring blankly at the wall.

''Well, I guess it can't be helped. All the trouble you've caused for the World Government and all the times you confronted them directly, and you never suffered an injury. This time, you were not even involved, and it costed you an arm.''

Caesar said bluntly, Irra gritting her teeth - reliving a grousome image from a few days ago, right after the blast.

''I'll be back later. I'll go clear my head.''

The fellow Commander of the Revolutionary Army said, waving and leaving the room. He made his way down the streets, eventually finding his way to the Maneki-neko Casino. He entered without warranting any attention, and found his seat at a slot machine. He had to get his mind off of things.

    The Stone Hinge

The Fountain of the Giants, a land known for Kolto. Many souls venture in an out of this island on a daily basis. For those first arriving upon the island, The Stone Hinge would be the likely destination to end up. This floating city has been wrapped up in the currents of the Fountain, leaving it as a convenient spot for newcomers. One such newcomer would be none other than Amber Lawless. She had barely even stepped off the boat before she'd be off exploring the city for everything it had to offer. The odd architecture had her fascinated as she gazed around the city.

Eventually her journey through the city would leave her at a particular crossroad in life. These are the kinds of choices you can only make once, and she would be forced to make it today. To the left was the Submarine Rental. This was the safe path that any sensible person would choose. To her right would be a group of green dude with some super shady looking rockets. Amber weighed her option carefully, thinking about the pros and cons of each option before carefully deciding which one was correct. Nah, screw that, she ran straight for the rockets, completely ignoring the boring submarines.

Oh my gosh! This looks like fun! Can I ride one? Please!

The girl was standing before the green dudes in an instance, hopping excitedly up and down as she pleaded with these guys to let her ride the rocket. It was quite clear her concern for safety had gone right out the window. The dangerous death trap rockets were all she cared about right now. She probably wouldn't even notice if a certain Fleet Admiral were close by, though if such a soul were to show up, a completely badass Rocket Race might just break out. Only time would tell of such events.

"You'll fit in at a casino, he says. This is stupid."

Hale walked through the casino floor, apparently dressed for a night out. Though her tone and the look on her face made it quite obvious that she was not having fun. She would softly stomp her way towards the bar area before stopping before the counter. She didn't care about Prometheus sleeping at the counter; she had her own goal to fulfill here. She would slam her hands down on the counter, loud enough for everyone close by to hear. Probably loud enough to wake up Prometheus.

    "Barkeep, bring out your boss!"

Hale hadn't do her research on the casino, but she still sought to confront the boss. She had a misguided idea that Casino owners were generally tied with criminal activity. Whether this was true or not, she didn't bother to look into. Instead, she would recklessly try to force her way in and deal with it on her own terms. Probably not the greatest idea to walk into the middle of a crime riddled area and proclaim your intent to take down the head honcho, but she was going to do it anyways.

Tylor was walking through Ragnarok Three as Koko and Juri were listening to the strange man. As he walked, Tylor contemplated the biggest question about this city. What happened to Ragnarok one and two? Maybe they combined to form Three. Maybe they were blown up or drifted away. Regardless, he would happen upon the bar that Koko was in as the man walked out. Assuming the man didn't actually vanish open leaving the bar, Tylor would walk past him. The air of silence and his faint presence would obvious to him. Walking into the bar, Tylor would take a seat at the counter.

He wouldn't order anything yet; there was nothing on the menu that looked particularly appetizing. He was considering ordering some of the mugs to eat, but he wasn't sure how well the barkeep would take that. From the corner of his eye, he saw Juri and Koko. Juri, Tylor would recognize, having seen her more recently. Koko, on the other hand, was not recognizable to him. They had met in the past when Tylor was still a Marine, but Koko had changed too much. He turned to look at Koko before speaking.

    "Do...I know you?"
