    To the Docks - Jessamine

The book she picked up seemed to be empty, bar the title page, but Jess still took it, just in case Morti or someone else in the crew knew how to read it. The librarian tried to stop her, but she would not. From her point of view, giving him her name was enough of a guarantee that she would return the book.

Back to the pursuit, it seemed to be going well for a bit. She managed to keep up, and her prey gave no signs of having noticed her. Then she lost them in a pungent alley leading to the docks. She sped up, only to be faced with a stare(?) of the helmeted guy upon catching up. The fact that the woman was nowhere to be seen was alarming, and Jess immediately jumped towards the wall, to have at least one side of her body covered in case she was attacked. At the same time, she activated Iron Bark Shield; a helmet covered her face and a buckler was now on her left forearm.

The heat vision in the helmet alerted her to the presence above. As she looked up, the woman opened her mouth and unleashed some sort of sonic attack, the weight of which made Jess crumble to the floor. Instinctively, she would attempt to raise the shield to put it between her and the woman. This should be possible since the target appeared to be the Floran's legs, though it would be unlikely to have any effect due to the nature of the attack. Jess cringed from the pain, but she would hopefully be able to get up in a few dozens of seconds. After all, nothing seemed damaged.

Luckily, the two chose to attempt losing her instead of finishing her off. The plant tried to keep an eye on the retreating figures through her heat vision equipment, but they were fleeing into the docks. She would most likely lose them in the crowd, but she should at least have a general direction in which they were going. Using her spear as a support, Jess would pull herself up and follow, albeit her legs were still a bit shaky. What she did next would depend on what she saw once she emerged in the docks.

The large woman stood to her full height, long black hair like oil flowing from her head. Dead eyes looked down at Lumette, and a tongue licked out between her lips. A thirst, perhaps. Lumette didn't seem against the notion either, but there was certainly a nasty air about this scenario.

The two who were harassed by Lumette would falter and then bolt away from her, going down the docks. Lumette's hands would try to caress the large woman's thigh, trying to feel the muscles. Her hand would almost make it, but something would interrupt her; a chainsaw. Flung from a great distance, connected via a set of cables, came a chainsaw from a white haired spook of a woman. Albino, safely, she had an edge in her eyes.

Should Lumette dodge the saw and save her arm, she'd see the face of the woman who accosted her drop into worried sweat. The new arrival was clearly perturbing her, to the point he large woman turned and booked it, running away in large strides to the edge of the dock and waters.

The chainsaw snapped back as fast as it shot out, the woman catching it with its base. Revving it, she'd charge after the large woman, cackling madly. Lumette could not that this woman had a mechanical left arm, making her a bit of a cyborg. Not the most foriegn of things, but it was a detail.

By now, the two who Lumette were after had already fled to the black marauder ship, towards where Taiga stood.

"They are not Yuan Ti, but they are not humans, either. Fascinating! But..."

The voice was behind Taiga, and it was a man who was in his space; his personal bubble. Should Taiga turn to face this man, he'd see a fairly tall man, bordering that of the Admirals, with a black visor that had a line of purple, eerie light. The rest of his suit was black and fashionable, though he had oddities all around him. The biggest one slinked from behind his black coat; a tail thick with scales and reptilian to its core.

"I surmize I could be your 'snake person'."

For every second that Taiga looked at this man and his purple visor, he could feel his body stiffen and his nerves deaden. An effect like paralysis was taking him, and it was all because of this man. The gaze continued, and the tail reared up. Like a scorpion's sting, Taiga could almost imagine it striking him. Matters became even worse as two of the men aboard the ship leap from the side, drawing vicious looking long cleavers. The make was foreign, just like them, but the looked lethal enough to respect.

Passing by, Taigo would see the two traders try and board the black vessel. Lumette's actions had led to them fleeing rapidly; perhaps they were not far off, judging the black ship with utmost scrutiny.

The blast that alerted the ship was resolving elsewhere, and Jess would find her legs aching with needles and pain. The sonic blast was all encompassing for that area; a shield was nothing more than a distraction. it was as if her bones were exploded, or tried to; perhaps if she were human, she'd be in far greater pain.

A dozen seconds indeed would pass, and her legs were awake again. Pain was still in them, but it was nothing a short rest couldn't cure. Her vision would keep at the pair, losing the man but seeing the woman was taking a sky approach. Running from roof to bazaar tent top, she was taking the sky route through the dockyards. A strange signature would show her the man from before, and he had now sported a tail. Taiga, her crew mate, was standing right before this man.

Jess could see the ships, and it was safe to assume the black marauder ship, a ship of jagged edges and sharp sails, where of the woman's and the man's. It matched their ware, it matched their mood, their enigma. The woman was now skulking atop poles, agility showing with her deft movements. The man, confronting Taiga, was soon to have the banshee in tow, without anyone to assist the assassin/swordsmen.

In the off distance, Jess could see a large woman with black raven hair and a deathly pale complexion, a smaller albino woman with a chainsaw, Lumette her crew mate, and a second albino girl in full black with a sword strapped to her back holding an open crate filled with fish. A strange sight, especially with Taiga being confronted nearby, but it was still something to see.

Miskin Docks - Jessamine - Kunshu, Sea

Jess stomped her feet a few times to get the feeling back in them and followed the heat signature of the sound user. The woman was the only one that she managed to keep track of, so the floran did not have much of a different choice.

The sight greeting her in the docks revealed that the situation was about to escalate quickly. The helmet guy, who now had a tail, was confronting Taiga. The woman was approaching this duo from above, likely for a surprise attack on the samurai. Lumette was also there, though she seemed busy picking up girls. Jess knew that if she wanted to interfere before the sound user reached Taiga, she had no time to go talk some sense into the mermaid.

Her help out of the picture for the time being, the plant decided to get involved after all. She was slightly peeved at having been attacked for no good reason (in her opinion), and she did not want to have to explain to Morticia why their swordsman had no more bones.

So, she silently approached the bottom of the pole the skull-face woman was currently on and placed her palm on it. A liana grew out of her index finger and was speedily climbing up the pole, keeping out of direct line of sight. Hopefully, it would manage to reach the woman and grab her by the ankle before she noticed. In case it worked, Jess would proceed to yank her down from the pole. If not, she had a back up plan. An impact dial was ready to be used in her buckler, and she would apply it to cut the pole down in order to make the woman fall all the same. Her spear would be ready to intercept as she would go down. Of course, if she did not succeed in bringing skull-face down, Jess would need to reconsider next course of action.

Taiga questioned the crew, but immediately got his answered coming from a different direction, prompting him to turn around – only to see what he concluded to be the snake people he is looking for. However, the gaze into the snake people not only surprised him but the killing intent from the ‘creature’ stab deep into him. His body tensed and felt uncomfortable for every second his eyes making in contact with the man’s. He wasn’t too sure but perhaps the snake man is far too strong for him thus the reason he is shaky. But it could also be some snake-like powers? Or just Haki? Not much he knew about the person in front of him, but the situation is slowly turning grave for Taiga as two of the crew members he questioned immediately leap forth and surround Taiga, both looks pretty strong in their own right, though Taigai isn’t someone to be looked down upon regardless. Unsheathing his own katana out of its scabbard, Taiga was playing cautiously and defensively in the event that they went aggressive on him.

“I see, you are objective huh. Well I need you to come with me actually… My Captain would really like to have a closer look at you.”

His eyes wandered around, ensuring his vision locked on not only to the snake man, but also to the other two crew members. If possible, Taiga didn’t want to fight anyone, especially when he is at a disadvantage right now. But with the situation like this, it is a highly probable chance that some force might be required. He wasn’t good at manipulating things so he cannot come up with ideas to bring the snake man with him, but perhaps a deal? Morti didn’t really specify much but he guess as long as she have the snake people or whatsoever it wouldn’t matter and with the man having confirmed that he is the snake people the crew have been looking for, all there is left is to bring him along with Taiga to Morti… probably..

Lumette, Kuko, Chainsaw girl - Docks - Cockblocked

Lumette was so close, and yet she was denied once more. A chainsaw, revved and flying, came at them. The sound alerted Lumette, who quickly pulled her hand back. The owner of the chainsaw did so as well, before cackling maniacally and causing Lumette's suitor to run off. The chainsaw lady ran after her. Lumette was dumbfounded, unable to move by sheer confusion alone. Just what the hell had happened. When she realized she was still nowhere near her goal, the two women were already gone. Lumette was on her own again.

"My passiooooooon denied agaaaaaaain!" she lamented, a stern look of disappointment across her face.

She looked around, seeing the two she'd been talking to before run off to the black ship. Taiga was there, talking to a man the size of a full-grown tree. He sure was a tall one, but what was even weirder was that tail of his. Lumette was interested in this, but more so in the black ship. They were close to the water, and Lumette knew she'd have a better chance of reaching it underwater. She sprinted towards the edge of the docks, plunging into the water with great delight. The webbing between her hands grew back, her nails grew long, and her legs were now a tail. She was fast, ridiculously so. Within moments, she'd reach the black ship. Once she did, she'd climb the hull, never going on deck but trying to listen to any conversation held aboard that might prove useful for finding snake people.

Stomping her feet to get feeling back would shoot even more pain into the plant woman's body, but she'd grit and bear it. All to follow that woman who'd done this to her. Questions kept coming, but there were no answers, short of that she was literally stalking these two. More might come, but that might not have been for her to find.

Following the heat of the skulking woman, Jess would find that this stealthy approach was nothing of the sort; people saw her easily enough. Some murmurs and questions came, but the people more likely evacuated than stayed. The skull woman only approached the way she did, because it would seem Taiga was getting ancious. The samurai had a sword drawn, which was not a good sign.

Approaching the best she could, Jess tried to get the upperhand against her target, with a vine sneakily rising to trip up the woman. This was almost full proof... but only if her target didn't know already.

"Oi, lass, ya really think ya got light feet plompin' 'round me?" said the skull woman, her accent coming through with hints of Irish cockney.

Jess' vine only just began when the woman in skull paint looked down at her. As an established sound user, the woman heard Jess approaching, How close was a mystery, but stealth was not the plant lady's forte. The vine crept, only to explode at the base of the finger tip. Jess didn't hear the sound, but the woman's lips moved. A mere whisper of an explosion.

The explosion would rock the pole, which would prompt the woman to leap into the air with the grace of a cat. Bundled up, she'd look down as Jess and inhale, soon screaming a solid beam of pure force energy at Jess and, should she dodge, at her feet. The resulting blast would create a crater while deafening anyone in the area of the docks with the boom.

Momments earlier this massive blast of sound, Taiga was confronting the man in dark clothing. The paralysis he felt was quite literal: Taiga's body was shutting down with every glimpse into that purple visor. It wasn't haki, it wasn't fear, nor even conqueror's; this man was paralyzing him with sight alone.

"My oh my how Mortica has grown. Captain of her own crew."

Words from a cold voice chilled like a smooth cream flowed, and the words brought something to Taiga; he knew Morticia and he knew she was his captain. Information was power, and this man had all of it for this one set piece. The purple visor stared, glowing brightly, ominously as Taiga drew blade. There was no fear from this act, and the man with a scale tail would only outstretch his arms.

"I will accompany you, but only if you look me in the eye and say you want me to follow. No cheating."

While Taiga spoke to this man, Lumette would deal with denial by shacking her head and dving into the waters. Approaching the ship, Lumette clung to its side, scaling it but never revealing herself. To anyone not aboard the ship who could see her, she stuck out like a sore thumb; the ship was black and her skin lighter grays if a color had to be described.

The crew was talking, loudly, cackling even, but not a single word made any sense. They did not speak common, instead listening to a harsh slew of words that sounded like a harp being plucked by meat hooks. Crude, their voices would trail and focus towards Taiga, away from where Lumette had hid.

It was then Jess, Taiga, and Lumette, among the others in the port, were struck by a massive blast of disharmonious sound. Jess took the brunt of the blast, a literal beam of pure energy made from vibration and sound. Anyone within the docks would find their ears popping and filled with such painful waves, that they got an instant migraine and tremendous pain. Vertigo, safely, came next, and ears might very well bleed if one wasn't attuned to the... tune.

Taiga was hit by this blast, but he'd see, he'd have to see, that the snake man before him did nothing, even in a shudder. The blast was, after all,
from his crew mate (a thing Jess knew about.) Should Taiga fall, vertigo settling in, the man would walk past the samurai to board his ship. Taiga could turn and see the crew, unphased by the blast. Well, not unphased; they pumped their fists into the air and caressed their heads and body with sensual twitches. The intense pain they felt was something of immense pleasure to them. A crew of masochists.

Lumette, boarded the side of the ship, could not hear the ecstasy. No one could hear anything at this point.

    Should Jess dodge, the sound she felt was certainly something tremendously awful. Should Lumette stay gripped to the ship, she'd feel it move;
it was setting sail. Taiga would see the man board, if he didn't stop him. They were leaving, but at least Taiga knew someone with details.

    The New Ship
Building was fast. Extremely fast. It was so sudden. One moment, the crew's vessel was falling apart in the sea waters like normal, and the next there was a giant crab that was the size of a fortress, scuttling in the bay. Mortica had a letter talking about this trade with the Ironbeard Armada, but she'd never expect it so fast. Ghosts, all looking like Mortica, would done construction helmets and loot from nearby houses construction tools. Spidey, upon request, was asked to assist.

The crab was a friendly beast, knowing its job. Morti was a cruel thing of invention, knowing her craft. Spidey was good at sticking things together. All together, they would rebuild the Delver ship as a giant crab fortress. How nonsensical could it be? No one cared.

"Harmonia came through. My liaison is wonderful... kehe..."

A sonic boom erupted, loud enough that Mortica thought a part of the island exploded. Her face grimaced, and she knew just exactly what that was. The man she wanted to avoid, with a cruel crew that was filled with pain, was acting. Morticia knew it was her crew that sparked this, and that there was going to be a blood bath. However, Captain Mortica had to handle her crab.

Morti's body would slump, and a second Morti came out from her. Astral projection, she'd probably explain more than once. This body would begin flying to the sound of the boom, where the old body would shake and awaken. A new voice, a man's voice, would take over. This voice was extremely sad and depressed.

"Oh. Looks like they are all going to die. Tragedy. The costs will be tremendooous for their coffins. Oh darn." the voice sounded, akin to Alan Rickman, with a blue tone.

Huh? Taiga listened to the snake man speaking with a tone of familiarity upon the topic of his Captain being brought up, even mentioning Morti before Taiga stated her name. Information is power, Taiga bet – assuming that the man in front of him have likely wide connections to acquire information easily. But given his words, he would likely know Morti as well, perhaps even the reason why she wanted to acquire a ‘snake people’. But that kind of talk would not linger in Taiga’s mind for long as the snake man made a deal in which he wanted Taiga speak to him once more while looking at his eyes, or his visor that is constantly shooting a deathly glare. Of course, Taiga wasn’t sure what is truly causing such a paralyzing effect, he could only have imagined the multiple possibilities – but he felt like a trap, though the man’s words at the same time seem to be provoking Taiga in a certain manner, whether obedience or anger in reaction – Taiga hesitated to the solution given by the snake man, this would ultimately followed by a powerful burst of distorting sounds, causing ear-piercing pain that shot from the ears all the way to his brain, prompting the samurai immediately dropped to one knee as he dropped his sword instinctively in order to cover up his ears, already started to bleed from the painful sound that hit him.

    “Wha-“

It was painful, heck painful wouldn’t be the only word to describe the nature of the damage he suffered from the blast – painful wouldn’t be enough for it. Migraines immediately appeared, hitting him hard, he felt nauseous but kept his mental strength prevented him from completely sprawling out. Taking a hard look at the snake man as if looking at a culprit only to find not just the snake man, but also the rest of the crew being unaffected by it, negatively. In fact, they seem to be drowning themselves in ecstasy with the sound. Were they the ones that did this? Taiga didn’t ask. He couldn’t. Not from this tremendous pain hitting him in this manner, and even if he could – he wouldn’t be able to hear anything momentarily.

As the snake man walks by Taiga, a monster that did not even twitch nor did anything more than observing – Taiga could only look, words weren’t leaving his mouth as the ship is starting to set sail. When the sound would subside, and when it subsides – Taiga would notice the target would be on the ship next, having unable to attempt to stop the snake man. Damn it.

Lumette, Taiga, Jess - Docks - Black Ship

Jess was messing with someone she shouldn't have messed with, and before long; all would feel the consequences of her actions. A scream, loud and piercing, resounded throughout the docks. The sound was deafening, Lumette covered her ears, letting go of the ship. She fell back into the water, where the sound would not bother her as much. She was hissing, upset, and confused. She did not yet know this was Jess' fault, but soon would. Just before the scream, she heard the man Taiga was talking to talk about Morti. Did he know their captain? Lumette swam back to the surface, the scream had subsided. She was furthest from the origin of the sound, and had quickly fallen into the water. She was the least affected of all by this scream. Still, she felt nauseous from it. Any desire she had for Snake People was gone.

"What was thaaaaaat... Taigaaaaa..... did you do thisssss?"

Lumette was clearly upset, and wanted to find the culprit.

Miskin Port - Jess - Taiga, Lumette

Unfortunately for Jess, her target was not only able to produce the deadliest of sounds, but also to capture the weakest ones. Her sneak attack could not have gone worse. Without a chance to catch her opponent, by then she at least knew enough to not stand in the direction the skull woman had opened her mouth.

The plant girl jumped back, slashing her spear in the Waterwheel technique. While she did not intend to hit the sound beam head on with her weapon, fearing it might get damaged, she hoped that the resulting wind slash would be enough to at least partially divert the sound waves around her and lessen their impact. Still, she was basically in the epicentre. As the sound beam crashed into the ground where she stood just a moment ago, a crater formed, and the shockwave coupled with the all encompassing scream messed up her landing.

The floran crumpled, feeling as if she was being pummelled by countless hammers. She had no eardrums to be popped, but still she could not hear a thing as the attack subsided. Thankfully, she was skilled in the art of controlling her own body. Slowly picking herself up as her opponent retreated to the black ship along with the helmet guy, her tissues were healing. Growing back what was torn, repairring what was damaged, she moved through the deafened crowd towards her crewmates.

While Taiga probably couldn't hear anything yet by the time she got there, Jess should be able to hear Lumette's question. And, since she was asking, the mermaid was likely able to hear a potential answer, too. If this was the case, Jess would promptly satisfy her crewmate's curiosity: "I'm afraid thiss one is on me. I tried to sstop the ssound woman before Taiga would be outnumbered. Ssorry?" She explained what happened, offering an apology as well.

"More importantly, do you know where they are going? " Jess pointed her spear in the direction of the departing ship. If necessary, she had means to follow them (with Lumette's help), but in her opinion, they needed to regroup a bit before trying something like that.

    Spoiler:
Waterwheel – originally a counter. The user evades an attack by a back flip, during which the spear slashes vertically from below at the opponent. The slash is so powerful that it sends out a wave of wind which momentarily forms a wall/passageway through non-physical or projectile attacks (i.e. a tunnel through smoke, wall of fire, wave of water, hail, arrow barrage), so it can be used also as a technique-splitter. This version is too exhausting though, so it’s limited to one usage per 3 posts.

Cell Regeneration - When out of combat, the user can regenerate surface wounds, broken stalks/stems or internal damage at moderate speed. In combat the regeneration is very slow since it requires concentration. Decreases stamina very fast. Cut off limbs can be grown back with time.

    The Dockyards

Sound rocked both Taiga and Lumette, though Jess the most of the three. Being at the center, she'd be a disorientated mess until her life return could sort her out. Her efforts to divert the brunt of the damage would pay off, but Jess was still flung through the air by the wretchedly powerful blast. A stall or two would save her, but the sound woman was gone by the time Jess was able to move out.

Lumette, stunned, would fall into the waters. There, her ears had some reprieve, but it was the initial blast that was the worst. The ringing wouldn't fade so easily, though she would recover. Calling out to Taiga in blame, Lumette would pin this on the swordsmen. Luckily, Jess would come to the docks to verify that the sound was a result to her snooping.

Taiga was the worst off. No water nor any way to control his ear drums, he'd take it hard once he came to to see the man disappear. Another figure passed him to board the ship before it truly disappeared into the horizon, but the vessel wasn't something one could follow. The man gone, the snake people on a different ship, Taiga would take this as utter defeat.

A pat on his shoulder, however, would bring him back. Jess would ask about a way to give chase, for going where they were going would be an easy solution. Taiga, and the others, could see Morticia was patting Taiga, staring at the ship as its sails took it away.

"That guy has too much free time."

Morti would aim to help Taiga rise, Taiga feeling that she might not have been all there. Indeed, this was Morticia's astral form, with the real form still building a massive ship atop an even larger crab.

"Eeeeheh. Sneaky. Don't worry; the snake people were optional. Get up, Tiger."

A misnaming, certainly, Taiga would be offered assistance if he had not already taken it. Luckily, the snake people quest was bunk; optional,
but not critical, to the future plans. The captain still looked at the fading dot, face frowning as best as it could, head shaking before turning away to head back to the crew ship.

"They are going to a tall island near the Red Line. We are also going there. Ehhheeh..."

The laugh Morti gave was one of a person who really didn't want to go. However, it seemed her meeting with a friend has lead her to this moment, a moment that she had to partake in despite her core saying not to. Hopefully, her crew would reunite, following her out. This journey would take some time, hopefully someone bringing the kelp chips so asked for, but it gave the group more than enough chances to probe their enigmatic captain.

For when they got back to the ship, they'd see it was not only gone, but replaced by a giant hermit crab war cruiser with metal scraps built all around it's body like a shell. The metal panels, glued by silk strands, supported by welding of a pro, and still brimming with construction, were assembled with rooms and future growth in mind. The crab, docile as it were, was the Delvers new ship.
