Free Roam - Caverns of Ocean Deep

    The Caverns of Ocean Deep

Somewhere within the New World there is a maelstrom. For some reason, this maelstrom goes down diagonally, rather than vertically. Due to the powerful currents in this particular part of the New World, the Maelstrom never collapses. This massive escalator of water takes ships upon a ride to a system of caverns hidden deep underwater. These caverns stretch in various directions for hundreds of miles, and their natural abundance of precious metals, the plethora of new, undiscovered species, and their location amidst many trading routes have made these caverns a hub of activity for pirates and marines alike. The sheer size of the caverns has given settlers plenty of opportunities to establish cities and small ports situated along the many rivers and lakes that run underground. However, not all is good in the Caverns of Ocean Deep, for there are many caverns and roads yet to be claimed by civilization, and these are home to dangerous monsters. Yet it are these dangerous parts of the caverns that hold vast riches and discoveries to be made.

Civilizations within the caverns are plentiful, and become more and more dangerous the deeper one traverses into the caverns and away from the maelstrom's exit. Gigantic crystals within the caverns power most societies throughout the caverns and provide ample light to brighten the days of those living inside, yet the nature of the energy they provide is not known. Early experiments revealed that removing the crystals would quickly lead them to lose their power, thus leading to a system of massive power cables running throughout the inhabited parts of the caverns. The deeper one goes, the less of these gigantic crystals there are.

    Maelstrom's End

The first city any visitor to the Caverns of Ocean Deep encounters. It is a massive port city, and the last time visitors see sunlight. The entire city is powered by a network of massive cables running from the crystals on the ceiling to the various power plants across the city. Marines have a base here, and the city offers a plethora of amenities to visitors. A large river runs from the end of the maelstrom through the city, and further into the deeper parts of the caverns. Salt mining is a valuable enterprise here, and is ran by the Eastern Grand Line Trading Company, which controls vast parts of the city.

    - City governed by the Council of 12
    - Council of 12 comprised of powerful entrepreneurs from various districts
    - Large salt mines on the edge of town
    - Many shops that sell rarities only found in the caverns
    - Guides offer trips deeper into the caverns

    Stahl Corporation Caverns

Accessed by an offshoot located at least a week from Maelstrom's End, these tunnels are much smaller than the regular caverns, and open up into a large lake with acidic qualities. In the center of the lake, there is a sinkhole, which goes deeper than the eye can see. The Stahl Corporation rests upon a ridge, hovering precariously over the lake. The corporation investigates the nature of the caverns, and is strictly off-limits to outsiders. This particular cavern is home to many dangerous creatures, most of which fly and are highly carnivorous.

    - Only known population is the Stahl Corporation and their staff
    - Entrance to this offshoot locked off most days
    - Gigantic steel locks in place to keep people out
    - Rumors of horrible experiments surround the corporation
    - Stahl ran by an unknown scientist who has a seat on the Council of 12
    - Lack of crystals in the cavern leads to a lack of light

    Abyss Heights

One of the last places in the caverns where civilization can be found, Abyss Heights is a city built around a massive ravine. The river from Maelstrom's End ends here, and falls into the deep depths below. There are precious few power crystals here, and as a result the city is much darker than Maelstrom's End. For most, this is at far as they'll go into the caverns. The city is home to outlaws and riddled with crime. Laws are in place, but rarely enforced.

    - Haven to pirates and other scum
    - Illegal salt trading happens here
    - Rumored monsters at the bottom of the abyss
    - Deepest known inhabited point is 1000 metres, after which nobody has ever returned.

    Coldrend

A massive, frozen, underwater lake on the northern side of the caverns. While close to Maelstrom, it takes about a day to get here from the city. A small, heavily armored train runs between the city and the town of Frolic, at the edge of the lake. The walls of this part of the cave are made entirely out of ice, and the abundance of crystals makes it brighter than most other areas. Snowy mountains surround this parts, and the ceiling is at least 2 kilometers up into the sky. Small fishing villages surround the massive lake, and the villagers jovial and strong.

    - Fishing happens here, though the fish are strange and found nowhere else
    - Villagers are strong, as needed for cutting through the ice
    - The Warm Hole is an event that happens every years, where the center part of the lake thaws and heats up for unknown reasons.
    - The event is a reason for celebration, and times are good
    - Armored Train runs twice every week, and is heavily armored for a reason.
    - Many dangerous creatures in the tunnels between Maelstrom's End and Frolic

    The Green Finale

Named because it's the very deepest part of the caverns where humans will go, this gigantic forest is home to many species; most of which dangerous enough to require an entire regiment of marines to handle, if the monsters are at their weakest. Many attempts have been made to settle here, all of which failed. Beyond this place, few know what to expect. Most of the plants here are omnivorous and poisonous.

    - Rumored to hold the ruins of an ancient civilization
    - Stahl researches come here sometimes, and are the only ones capable of surviving here for long.
    - Stahl has 83% mortality rate for researches who come here
    - Said to contain insects dangerous enough to wipe out a village
    - Takes at least 2 weeks to travel here from Maelstrom's End.
    - Many species of trees and animals can only be found here.
    - Crystals here different from the other crystals found in the caverns

    More to be added

    Paf - Home

... or it was like home for the small spider mutant. The land was wild with fauna, light, and caverns. Sounds unheard save by a lucky a few, and Paf was one of them. Skittering legs took her from wall to ceiling to floor as she prowled into the untamed depths. She had no mission short of finding anything of value to take back to her master. The problem for her, however, was how.

Deeper she went into dangerous territory, seeing everything around her perfectly clear without ever using her eyes. The air was crisp, but easy to read, and what monsters she avoided were many. Paf did not, however, avoid the large one right before. Many times her size, it was a bone crusted spider monstrosity with a golden top. This thing had value, but it was also quite terrifying.

To Paf, it was to be a friend. Standing on her hind legs, Paf would begin to sway back and forth, her jaw slack as her fine hairs waved in the air. The monster spider only gazed at the dance, its mandibles glistening and twitching in the dim light.

Suddenly, it too was on its hind legs, swaying with Paf's rhythm. A spider dance was happening, and both participants were excited to finish.

    Abyss Heights
    Anyone May Join

Abyss Heights, the dark haven for Pirates and Criminals galore. It's darkness is used to shroud crime and corruption, but still an air of mystery is found within. However, the city grows ever darker, as the power crystals needed to light the city are running scarce. The mining crew had mined 1000 meters down and harvested all that the land could give, but now they were again running short on crystals. The only way to get more crystals was to go further, further into the unknown. The bottom of the abyss was rumored to be riddled with monsters and the bodies of those foolish enough to go so low. Unfortunately, that was the only place where one might find the power crystals, and as such, they'd be forced to go to the bottom of the abyss.

Fliers were spread around the town, attempting to recruit either bold or foolish individuals who would be willing to go to the bottom of the abyss and protect the mining crew as they mined for crystals. It was basically a mission of certain death, a suicide squad if you will. However, should they survive, they would be rewarded handsomely. The flier read:

    "Mining Crew needs Protection.
We need powerful persons capable of surviving certain death.
Should you survive (most likely won't) you will be rewarded.
If you die, it's your fault for lying to yourself, thinking you were tough."

Those who signed up were to meet at a bar called "Pit of Despair". There was an application and a sort of strength test to prove whether or not one would survive the trip into the abyss. Many men and women had come to apply, and many of them would be turned down. Too soft. But those tough enough to sharpen their pencils and actually fill out the application, would be considered and up to take the strength test.

Abyss Heights- Sentai Pink (For Hype and whoever else joins)
She had heard rumors of the criminal ridden Abyss Heights. So she set forth. Aiming to arrive and become a symbol for the people. To ward away the criminals and lowlifes who would seek to take advantage of the local geography. After arriving at Maelstrom's End, and seeking passage to Abyss Heights, she would finally arrive at her desired location. She looked around, still dressed as her normal civilian self. She aimed to get a feel for the place, and see what needed to be done first, and what could be put off until later. Just when she thought she had things figured out, she would come across a flier. It mentioned certain death and the need to protect a miner team from terrible danger. She knew that if these people were going to such dangerous lengths, it must be important. So, rather than sway them from risking their lives, she decided to be one of the ones accompanying them. To ensure their lives were not forfeit. After heading to an abandoned location, she pulls out her Morpher from her pocket. Holding it outwards, she speaks her transformation line.

The power that shields good from evil, Sentai Pink!

From within her Morpher, a suit wraps around her body and forms to her perfectly. She would now stick out like a sore thumb, but she had no reason to hide anymore. She walked, with flier in hand, to the bar called Pit of Despair. Upon arriving, she saw many dejected faces. They were all on people who had been denied a spot on the defense team. Likely money grubbers wanting a quick fortune. She was not in this for the reward. She only wished to keep the miners safe. Anything else would be an afterthought for her. Her entrance would likely turn heads as peopled noticed her bright suit. She walked up to the table where the applications were.

I am here as a powerful person who can survive certain death. I aim to protect the miners.

    Hype - Yukiko

It was dark, both the physical environment and the mind of the tall lanky man. The weather was chilly, a natural effect of poor lighting and the nearby water fronts and he pulled his coat close or what was left of it at least. The once flamboyant flamingo pigmented coat he adorned everywhere he went was now brownish in hue and singed. He could recall nothing of recent or past events post parental departure not even his own capabilities or reputation.

"Oi, you there. That's a shiny piece you have there. Imma assume ya know how to use it. Hehe, come along then."

A big brute of a man shoved Kamina into a bar, Pit of Despair. All around him stood warriors, a few odd ones, and probably just boatload of criminals to die for a prize they'd likely never receive. The brute, Cohin, that shoved Kamina into the bar had his eye on Kamina's pistol from the moment he laid eyes on him. What better way to inherit it if the owner died in the abyss protecting miners? Kamina stood in the room almost awkwardly not standing out much with his tattered clothing. He fit in among the bands of criminals in a way but someone with an eye and history could make him out. Kamina's face seemed serious and aware but only if they knew the empty halls he was running through in head trying to remember... anything to be honest.

Abyss Heights - Pit of Despair - The Strength Test Begins

Throughout the dark streets of the city, many came from near to far, all heading toward the Pit of Despair. A group had gathered a distance away from the bar, where they were coming up with a strategy to either loot the abyss or loot those who died trying. One man in said group would spot a woman, a petite one. She obviously didn't fit in, not here at least. She walked alone, and at first he saw an easy score, but then something happened. The girl transformed, revealing a gaudy pink uniform. The girl who already couldn't blend in, just became even more noticeable.

"Was it just me, or did that odd broad just change clothes??"

It mattered not. The odd broad had made her way through the city toward the bar, where many had gathered. Some were there for an easy score,
others actually cared about the city and sought out to help the cause. Either which way, many were turned away for various reasons. As the girl made her way inside the bar, she'd be ushered in by a man. This man simply wanted to get her out of the way to escort a lanky fellow with a pistol into the bar. The more people came in, the more were sent out. In the far corner of the bar, rested another man. A tattered, brute of a being, who stood atop a table, addressing everyone who came in.

"Alright Alright. Listen up. Name's Krew. I'm the head Miner and the guy in charge of this little shindig. There's a lot of yas here, and we ain't got much time left. So here's the deal. Step up, state your name, strut your stuff, and we'll decide who's coming along. One at a time now, get to it."

The man was rather brief and impatient. It was a simple command. Those who wanted to join in on the mission would have to introduce themselves, and show off any ability they'd have to prove they'd be an asset. The line was out the door, and Krew was ready to get it over with. So one by one, each individual would be ushered forward, and approved or denied passage into the Abyss for the retrieval mission. It was up to the individual to plead their case, so they'd have to put their best foot forward.

The Pit of Despair- Sentai Pink
After she had entered the bar, she was directed in the right direction. After announcing her intent to partake in the expedition to the mines, she would be instructed to wait as more gathered. When enough had gathered, she would pay attention to the burly looking man who stepped forward, and explained things. Krew, as he was called, was the Miner Chief, and the one in charge of the operation. The selection method was a simple one. All one had to do was state their name, and showcase what would make them a useful person to bring along. After a few rather lackluster attempts were made, it would be time for her to shine. She stepped forward. After doing some crazy posing, she would announce her name and display her worth.

A name...? Call me Sentai Pink. As for my worth to the team... I am the force that protects the weak. I shield all from harm. You seem like a pretty strong fellow! Go on then! Give me your best shot!

She would then cause a transparent barrier to appear in front of her. It would look similar to glass, but it was actually an unbreakable shield. Should the chief oblige her request, he would note her worth quite well. Despite her odd behavior, she would definitely be invaluable down in the unknown depths.

Abyss Heights - Pit of Despair - Reggie "The Hood"

As the bar was getting filled up, the barman was just serving a customer sitting on the far right of the bar. The individual was a young, wearing black pants and a red hoodie. He had just been served today's special, which consisted of a cherry pie and a glass of beer. As he was eating his meal, the kid heard the announcement made by the man. Curiosity got the better of him. He turned his stool to the left, now he was facing the man standing on the table. At first, he thought it was quite rude of him to be standing on a table. But then he saw the huge crowd that had come here for him.

"Well, it seems that I finally found something to do."- the kid mumbled as he looked at the crowd.

Seeing a girl stepforward to introduce herself, the hooded kid knew that things could get very interesting. Nefarious thoughts came through his mind.
In a quick movement, the kid stood up and walked towards the man.

"The name is Reggie, but you can call me "The Hood". I am a ressourceful person and your announcement peaked my interest. I feel like I can do alot of good for your team. "

However, Reggie wasn't fully honest with the man. Or more accurately, his intention weren't as noble as he made it seemed.
